Who am I?

I am MinamiChimaa (美波チマー). I am a jack of all trades catboy Vtuber, or Cat of All Trades! I am the host of the Minami - Beautiful Wave Resort (livestreams).

I speak English and Japanese and am here to guide you to a place where you can just sit back and relax, where your worries are gone, at least for the stay.

Lore

You slip away to a world where you stop worrying, where you simply watch and enjoy as a strange cat leads you on a journey.

The cat sings, makes jokes, and does things you would have never imagined possible.

And finally, as set sail and drift away, you wake up feeling refreshed, remembering the sound… of beautiful waves…

Motivation

If you think you know everything, then you you’ve learned nothing.
— MinamiChimaa

My drive comes from wanting to learn and improve. Anything, regardless of what it is, I give my best to become good at it. Sometimes it takes years, sometimes it takes a month, nevertheless, I give it my all.

Art

Officially, I began my art journey on June 17, 2024, with my sensei (teacher) StargazerYuuki (NSFW). However, I've always been around art, just not directly drawing.

As a kid, I would do sketches but never really had any inspiration to draw. I found some inspiration in making pixel art in Minecraft and would occasionally make amateur pixel art.

I used to paint murals with spray paint. I also have experience making videos as well as taking and editing photos.

The Journey

I started drawing when I wanted to cover the song “Nobody” by OneRepublic. I had the song finished but no art to make a video, so I decided to "draw" it myself and made a pixel art animation. Link here.

One of my viewers, now sensei, StargazerYuuki (NSFW), thought I had the talent to draw, so he offered to teach me. I then proceeded to spend less than a month learning how to draw.

I was hesitant at first as it is a big investment, but I didn't want to forfeit any more opportunities.

I got my first commission on Jul 25, 2024.

Currently, I use FL Studio 21 as my DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) of choice.

Officially, my first "song" was published on June 26, 2014.

My first cover song was released on Feb 2, 2022, the same day as my Vtuber debut!

Frequently Asked Questions

  • My model is made by Rimuurin! The rigging was done by Shinorin930.

  • My name is comes from 美波島 (minamishima) meaning Beautiful Wave Island. It also based off of my actual Chinese name and is also named after the Jpop artist 美波 (Minami).

An uncommon pronunciation of the word 島 is chima (ちま). I settled on this pronunciation from the transliteration of my previous alias which would then become Chimaa-kun (チマーくん).

  • My name uses the Japanese name order, so my first name is Chimaa, but most people call me Minami.

I also like the name Chinami, with "Chi" coming from my first name and "nami" taken from my last name. It is joke from the Japanese word ちなみ (chinami) which means association, link, or connection. If someone was to say ちなみに (chinami ni), it could mean "by the way" or "to Chinami".

Try and immerse yourself in Japanese language and culture. It can be anything: anime, manga, music, or tv shows, just make sure to be actively trying to absorb it.

Japanese is not a language you can passively learn. If you don't use it, you will start to forget.
